Charging at home in Lindsay

Lindsay's in-town homes are mostly older, with the 100-amp panels that come with them — the free load calculation decides whether your house charges as-is, uses load management, or should be upgraded, and every path is quoted before work starts. Properties at the city's edges often park in detached garages or shops; those runs get measured and quoted whole.

Your utility in Lindsay is Southern California Edison. SCE's off-peak EV rates make overnight charging the cheapest way to run your car, and SCE's home-charging rebate programs — including Charge Ready Home for panel work — are the ones that apply at your address. We check eligibility at quote time.

SCE rebates in Lindsay: Charge Ready Home

Lindsay is Edison country, so the PG&E rebates elsewhere on this site don't apply here — but SCE's Charge Ready Home program pays toward exactly the panel and outlet work we install, and its top figure is in the same league as PG&E's. The catch is eligibility: unlike PG&E's standard rebate, this one is reserved for income-qualified households and designated disadvantaged communities.

Panel upgrade + EV outlet — up to $4,200 back if you qualify

SCE's Charge Ready Home program pays toward replacing a main panel rated under 200 amps with a 200-amp-or-larger panel, plus a dedicated 240-volt outlet within 25 feet of your off-street parking. Income-qualified households: 100% of eligible costs, up to $4,200. Households in a state-designated disadvantaged community: 50%, up to $2,100. The program pays for the electrical work — panel and outlet — not the charger itself, and a Level 2 charger must be installed within 180 days of the panel rebate. (Program terms verified Nov 5, 2026, at SCE's Charge Ready Home site.)

Panel already 200 amps? Outlet-only rebate — up to $1,000 back

If your panel can already carry a charger, Charge Ready Home pays toward the dedicated circuit and 240-volt outlet alone: up to $1,000 for income-qualified households, up to $500 in a designated disadvantaged community.

Who qualifies — income-qualified households and disadvantaged-community addresses

You must be an SCE residential customer, and qualify one of two ways: your household is income-qualified (enrolled in a program such as CalFresh, Medi-Cal, LIHEAP, SSI, or WIC, or at or below 80% of area median income), or your address sits in a state-designated disadvantaged community — parts of Tulare County qualify on address alone. Renters need the property owner's approval, and the work must be done by a licensed, bonded contractor with permits — which is how we work anyway. You can apply before, during, or up to six months after the work, while funding lasts; we help with the application when we quote.

Charging on SCE's TOU-D-PRIME rate keeps the savings going after the rebate — we set your charger's schedule for its off-peak hours during the install. Full program rules: evhome.sce.com.

Lindsay EV charger questions

How much does EV charger installation cost in Lindsay?

Standard installation starts at $495 (charger within 10 feet of the panel); most complete installs run $750–$2,500. Panel upgrades add $1,500–$4,000 when the load calculation requires one — quoted up front, and load management ($500–$1,000) often avoids it.

Do I need a permit for an EV charger in Lindsay?

Yes — an electrical permit for the new 240V circuit (City of Lindsay in town, Tulare County outside). We pull the permit and handle the inspection as part of the install.

Do you really serve Lindsay?

Yes — Lindsay is on our regular Exeter–Porterville route, at the same published pricing as everywhere we serve and with no trip fee. Appointments open 2–7 days out.
