Full System Upgrades: Charger, Panel & the Whole System — One Project

Most homes don't need "a charger install." They need an electrical system ready for the next twenty years of EVs, heat pumps, and additions. A full system upgrade does the panel, the circuits, and the charger together — one crew, one permit, one upfront price.

Built under our California general contractor license — the multi-trade scope is exactly what a GC license exists for.

Income-qualified? PG&E's Rebate Plus covers up to $5,000 of a project that includes a panel upgrade — and every full system upgrade does. We check your eligibility when we quote.

1-year workmanship warranty on every installation — plus your charger's manufacturer warranty (3–4 years).

What the workmanship warranty covers — and what it doesn't

Our workmanship warranty covers defects in our installation work — wiring, mounting, connections, and breaker work — for 12 months from the day of installation. If something we installed fails because of how it was installed, we come back and make it right. The charger itself is covered separately by its manufacturer's warranty (typically 3 years; 4 years on Tesla Wall Connectors). The workmanship warranty doesn't cover misuse, unrelated electrical faults in your home, or problems with third-party equipment we didn't install.

What's in a full system upgrade

200-amp panel & service upgrade

The foundation: a modern panel with the capacity and breaker space your home will need for decades — replacing 100-amp, full, or aging panels.

Dedicated EV circuits

One charger today, two tomorrow: 240V circuits sized and placed for how you actually park, including load-sharing for two-EV garages.

Your Level 2 charger, installed & set up

Hardwired or NEMA 14-50 — Wi-Fi connected, charging schedule set for PG&E off-peak hours before we leave.

Capacity for what's next

Load calculations that leave real headroom for a heat pump, an ADU, a hot tub, or a future second charger — so the panel gets opened once, not three times.

Whole-home surge protection

A panel-level surge protector guarding the charger, the car, and everything else plugged into your home.

Permits & inspection, handled

One permit covering the whole scope, inspection coordinated, paperwork filed. You sign the quote; we do the running around.

One project beats three — every time

Bought separately, this work means multiple permits, multiple inspections, multiple days without power windows, and a panel sized for the first job instead of the last one. Bought together, the load calculation drives everything: the panel is sized for every planned load, the circuits land where they should, and the total price is fixed before we start.

It's also the exact scope PG&E's Rebate Plus pays the most for — income-qualified households can claim up to $5,000 when a charger install includes a panel upgrade. See our rebates page for the details, and the cost breakdown for piece-by-piece pricing.

Is a full system upgrade for you?

  • Your panel is 100 amps, full, warm, or a brand your insurer has flagged
  • A second EV is coming — or already parked next to the first
  • You're planning a heat pump, ADU, hot tub, or workshop in the next few years
  • Your household may qualify for PG&E's $5,000 Rebate Plus panel path
  • You want the electrical conversation finished once, properly, with a permit on file

And if your panel is already healthy? We'll prove it with the load calculation and quote you just the charger. Honest scoping is the whole business model — read how a plain charger installation or a panel upgrade alone works.

Full system questions

What exactly is a full system upgrade?

One project that covers the whole job: a 200-amp panel and service upgrade, dedicated 240V circuits for one or two chargers, the Level 2 charger installation itself, whole-home surge protection, and the capacity headroom your next additions need — all permitted, inspected, and done by one crew under our California general contractor license.

How long does a full system upgrade take?

In most cases the panel work and charger install are completed in one scheduled day, with power restored the same day. The permit and inspection are coordinated around your schedule — you approve the quote first and never pay for surprises mid-job.

Do I need the full system, or just a charger?

If you have a healthy 200-amp panel with open spaces, you may only need the charger — and we'll tell you that, with the load calculation to prove it. The full system pays off when your panel is 100 amps or full, when a second EV is coming, or when you already know bigger electrical loads are in your future.

How much does a full system upgrade cost?

Most full system projects land between roughly $2,700 and $6,000+ depending on service size, run lengths, and charger count — see our cost breakdown for the piece-by-piece ranges. If your household income qualifies, PG&E's Rebate Plus pays up to $5,000 when the job includes a panel upgrade, so your net cost can drop dramatically.

Can't my electrician just do the panel and charger separately?

They can — but separate projects usually mean two permits, two inspections, two rounds of scheduling, and a panel sized for today instead of for everything coming. One coordinated project, one permit, one upfront price is almost always cheaper than the same work bought twice.

One project. Done right, done once.
